Polygraph Services

A polygraph, is a powerful method of truth verification. This can be useful as a preventative measure, or to solve criminal cases after they have occurred.

Our polygraph department consists of internationally qualified, advanced, Forensic Psycho-Physiologists and (South African) court-recognised experts in the field. Our department head is the President of the Eswatini Polygraph Association, and our team has two past lecturers from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. As part of our team, we have the past President of the Southern African Truth Verification Council and two past directors of the Southern African Polygraph Federation.

ACCURACY OF THE POLYGRAPH TEST

According to studies done by the American Polygraph Association (APA), polygraph has an accuracy rate of 98%. To make up for the other 2%, we use a global approach, where we include various additional truth verification methods such as micro-expressions, forensic interviewing and body language.

OUR TEAM OF EXPERTS

Ian Pienaar

Ian is an internationally qualified Advanced Forensic Psycho-Physiologist who leads the Bastion team of Polygraph Examiners. He started his career in military intelligence and played a major role in the core training of the National Traffic Police in South Africa during 2015. He completed his education in the polygraph field and qualified top of his class as a Forensic Psycho-Physiologist in 2016. Ian has conducted countless incident-specific examinations in Eswatini and is the current president of the Eswatini Polygraph Association.

Anne-mari van Staden

Anne-mari is a past Director of the Southern African Polygraph Federation (SAPFED). She has several years’ experience in the field of forensic interviewing, investigations, and polygraphs. She is one of only a few experts to successfully compile evidentiary Scientific Content Analysis (Statement Analysis) in high profile government cases. Anne-mari, a leader in her field, has been interviewed on numerous radio stations, in addition to appearing on the season finale of the TV series, "Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week," which aired on BBC.

Anton van Staden

Anton is a highly qualified Advanced Forensic Psycho-Physiologist and Past Director of the Southern African Polygraph Federation (SAPFED). He began his career in law enforcement at the SAPS and later became lead investigator in the Air Force Police of South Africa. Anton also lectured at the University of Pretoria, on Interviewing Skills, Forensic Assessment Interviewing Technique and Information Seeking Interview Techniques. Anton further also lectured at the Polygraph Academy in South Africa.

FORENSIC INVESTIGATION TESTING

Forensic Testing can be done for answers to specific questions, such as if a person has committed theft or broken a particular policy. The test is able to gain an accurate answer to a single, clear question.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREEING

Testing can also be done to assess whether potential employees will be the right fit for your company before you hire them.

PERIODIC INTEGRITY POLYGRAPHS

Polygraphs can also be used as a periodic screening tool, to ensure employees do not betray a determined expectation. For example if your company deals with sensitive information, or offers access to cash or goods, periodic blanket testing will point out any bad apples, and also acts as a powerful deterrent to those who are tempted to do wrong.

POST OFFENDERS TESTING

This test is specifically to verify if past offenders have committed any new crimes since their release date.

TRAINING MICRO-EXPRESSIONS AND BODY LANGUAGE

We also offer training in the powerful tool of micro-expressions and body-language. This can be of extreme help to your management during client negotiations and staff communication. Being able to read how a person truly feels, despite what they tell you, is a skill that can be invaluable in literally every setting.
